Another one of my daughter's favorite nursery rhymes is "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed." She enjoys acting this one out: whenever the song comes on, she climbs onto her bed or the couch and jumps with all of her might, then crashes down, curls bouncing every which way, giggling.
I often sing this yogi version to Q to make a game of the song. It's great for preschoolers as a little intro to kids yoga. I change the last line to include a different yoga pose each time, and end with savasana or child's pose. Feel free to pick your own favorite poses for your little one. Make sure they don't bump their little heads!
Five Little Yogis Jumping on the Bed
Five little yogis jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to monkey pose and say namaste
Four little yogis jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to banana pose and say namaste
Three little yogis jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to tree pose and say namsate
Two little yogis jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to frog pose and say namaste
One little yogi jumping on the bed
He fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to dog pose and say namaste
No little yogis jumping on the bed
They fell asleep while laying their heads
Mama called the doctor, what’d the doctor say?
Come to savasana....namaste!
